Description

This...This is a character I've spent almost 7 years working on. And arguably the first or second drawing done for him in that time. One of my earliest ZX villain OC's for plots in some Mega Man ZX Role Plays's I was in. This guy...this guy wouldn't be possible without a lot of my friends. :iconoverlander-x: and :iconshreedle: especially deserve credit for inspiring me to create this guy. :iconyukito-chan: deserves credit for giving me a chance to actually use him.

For those of you who enjoy :iconshreedle:'s Phare family OC's and for those of you who...either enjoy or at least know of Kai...and how our characters' backstories are sometimes/mostly intertwined...This guy is responsible for some of the major crap that happened in their pasts.

I've had inspiration from quite a few different villains for this character, though arguably Master Xehanort from Birth By Sleep is what initially inspired his creation. Granted back then he never had Oud/Trio as his biometal partner, he was just a mad scientist obsessed with knowledge. He's gone through quite a bit of revisions to the point he is now.

His eyes change from red to that pure yellow depending on how much of his power he's channeling. If you look closely at that little bit of dark/evil energy in his right hand you can see my current attempt at his personal emblem, a stylized 3.

Drawing this was...definitely fun. I've been doing a lot of things I don't do normally this summer with my drawings, and in particular, this guy's hair style is not one I normally do. I really like how the long strands in the front came out.

I regret not adding an apple in this image as apples are perhaps his favorite food.

See if you can't spot which two Mega Man characters besides Oud/Trio may have influenced his current design.

Bio:
Many many centuries before the ZX Series...so sometime during the Zero series, there was a young scientist who spent much of his free time in the Archives of Neo Arcadia. The young man had a fascination with history and the knowledge lost due to the Elf Wars, including legends of robotic warriors from before the dawn of Reploids. Fast forward several decades, after Ragnarok fell and the end of Neo Arcadia, Legion had formed, and the equality laws were in place. The old scientist and long time best friend of his, Dr. Randall, both came across something terrible. A Model W Fragment.

The two scientists worked together to study Model W in secret, and from this fragment they learned of the Game of Destiny. They decided such a horrible game needed to be stopped. They started their own Project Mega Man together, hoping to possibly create their own biometals to fight back against the Evil Mega Men that could be created from Model W.

"This is just one fragment of a larger monster we found. What's not to say there aren't already others who found similar fragments, and are already abusing its power? And if they haven't already, what's stopping that from eventually happening?"

A special armor and weapon system that could be summoned from a small device. Sounds like something from a Super Sentai/Power Rangers series doesn't it?  But with such dangerous power, who could they trust with it? What kind of weapons would be appropriate to add to these systems to fight back against a threat that could have almost any weapon possible?

The two old men thought about it, and realized if they could find the remains of the ancient robot warriors from the past, they would not only be perfect examples of what kinds of weapons and abilities to add to their biometals, but if their minds survived, they could be used as a fail safe to prevent others from abusing the robot's powers.

They re-explored the place they had found the Model W fragment. The first time they visited, they recall the area being distorted, as if reality itself had been bent. They had no idea what it had meant then, but only now realized Model W had made a small breach into Cyber Space. Clayton recalled how Omega's return to Neo Arcadia had almost a similar thing occur to the world...gateways to Cyberspace. The legends he read back then...Cyber Space was the place where all data eventually came to. If that was true, they didn't need to worry about finding the remains of long deactivated Reploids and their precursors...they could simply use the breach to enter Cyberspace and find the data they needed that way.

It was a dangerous gambit. Both men knew this well. There was no guarantee they would find what they were looking for. There was no guarantee they could return from Cyberspace. There was no guarantee it was even safe for an elderly human, even one augmented by the new Cybernetic parts required by the Equality Laws, could survive. Rather than risk both their lives, Clayton volunteered to enter the breach alone. Randall would stay behind to secure the life line Clayton had strapped himself with. Think like a diver's suit or astronaught suit, but with a cable on a mechanical pulley that would be used to pull Clayton out if he needed a quick escape.

When Clayton first entered the breach, he recalled being bombarded by vasts amounts of information. It was almost maddening. When he got through it, he traversed Cyberspace, searching for some hint of data to use. And eventually he came across it. A cluster of data...belonging to Proto Man.

Clayton returned, and they set about using Proto Man's data to create their first Proto Type Mega Man, Model Pm. Unfortunately, they ran into an issue with the power core. Pm's problem from centuries ago was still around. Still, Pm contained data they had yet to truly analyze and unlock, so they did not scrap him, nor consider him a failure, rather good practice for their next attempt to make a Biometal. Their next several attempts. M (Mega Man), Q (Quint), Co (Copy Mega Man), RS (Rockman Shadow) and CQ (Copy Quint/Penta), soon came to be, and others. While they did not have chosen warriors for their sleeping Biometals yet, they at least had created the Biometals.

Clayton however...had begun to change. Every time he entered Cyberspace, his curiosity always grew. What other secrets and lost knowledge lay hidden? What other data was hiding within the biometals they created? Q was a peculiar biometal who seemed to have data relating to a time machine inside him, while Co seemed to have both an impressive hard-light hologram power and a copy ability that exceeded the other biometals they had created. M and Pm seemed to have the most data stored inside them, and some of the toughest to decode. Clayton began doing trips to Cyberspace on his own...and started creating his own Biometals without the knowledge of Randall. His first two were B and T, a pair of biometals whose data would not be separated from one another in Cyberspace. But there was a hint of some energy he had never seen before that remained on those two. Not just the Bassnium, but something else. Something...darker.

The following trip he decided to see if he could learn more about this other energy. Like Cyberspace, it seemed rather...alluring to him. This energy was corrupting him, taking advantage of his curiosity, to find one of the monsters that slept within the unknown regions of Cyber Space. There he found it. The origin of this energy source. The data of a robot of unique design unlike anything he was familiar with. It seemed alien to him...and he was right. It was alien. The energy too. It turned black, and Clayton became consumed by the Evil Energy. The power was too exciting for him. From that moment, he knew what his third biometal would be. More specifically, what his personal biometal would be. Trio/Oud, the Alien Robot who brought Evil Energy to Earth to begin with.

He stayed within Cyberspace after that moment, constructing his new biometal there, as well as learning what he could about the Evil Energy. The truth behind it. And its possible connection to the Maverick Virus.

His new Biometal in hand, Clayton...No, his new name, Xanatos...would take the biometals he and Randall had created, and bring about a new era himself. He would not prevent the Game of Destiny from unfolding.

Randall however got wind of his plans, and had hidden the biometals they had created. Sealed away in secret locations, save for Pm, who was passed on to a trusted friend of his to attempt to fix Pm's core. Randall decided he would stop his former friend, with a biometal he himself would create on his own. One from a robot also not of this world.

"Master" Xanatos and "Dr. Ra" would meet at their private lab. The lab they studied the Model W fragment they had obtained. Xanatos, now equiped with his new Biometal, and having granted his own son the Biometals of B and T, had stormed the old lab to collect the biometals there. Dr. Ra only had two remaining. The Model W they studied, whose power was what kept the breach in Cyberspace open, and his new biometal. Ra's biometal was incomplete by the time Xanatos had arrived. Xanatos knew this. He warned that if he Mega Merged with it now, he would never be able to become human again. He would be forever stuck inside the armor and weapon he created. Dr. Ra Mega Merged, dooming his life from that point on. While it was an incomplete metal, it was still incredibly powerful. With the power of a sun at his hands, Dr. Ra destroyed Model W, sealing the breach, and preventing Xanatos from gaining any more lost knowledge or creating more Biometals. The former friends were now enemies, in a fight to the death.

Xanatos and his son were driven back by Dr. Ra...but now Dr. Ra could no longer leave their lab. This new Biometal took too much energy from him...and he would need to stay at the lab to constantly recharge. He was unable to fully stop Xanatos. He was unable to leave the lab and warn anyone. So Dr. Ra would stay at their lab and sleep for centuries, until, he hoped, someone would come seeking answers.

Xanatos's plans were set back greatly by this. Not only were the other biometals now out of his grasp, but his only current method to enter Cyber Space was gone. So he decided the next best thing would be to bide his time over the centuries, slowly accumulate resources, and plan for the future, much like whoever started this Game of Destiny.

It would be several years before Xanatos was able to regain entry into Cyberspace after many trials and failures. The data that each Biometal had could not be re-obtained in Cyberspace. He began planning and preparing for the future, including making changes to his own body to ensure he would live long enough to see his plans fulfilled.

For too long, he realized, people would be focused on the lost knowledge of the past. If he could open Cyberspace for the entire world, access to such knowledge for everyone could cause a revolution. Humanity...Humanoids and Reploids alike, needed to be united together. No more warring and bickering nations, no more fear of what they don't understand, no more destruction of their natural resources, no more betrayals from those thought to be their comrades.

If there's one thing his new Biometal taught him, it was this. Aliens had brought great evil to their planet on more than one occasion in the era before the Reploids, and they haven't returned to Earth in centuries. The world needed to be prepared for their return...No, the world needed to be united, and expand its reach throughout the galaxy!

"Even in the beginning, mankind knew of this when they bit into the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The one rule God had given mankind in the beginning...not to pursue knowledge. And we know why. Knowledge is power."

Xanatos sired many children during his centuries alive, hiding, and making sure none knew who or what he truly was. His children were tools to be used.

Close to 30 years before the appearance of Mega Man ZX, he finally tracked down Model Pm. A woman held Model Pm. Her husband had fixed Model Pm's energy core flaw...the one he and Randall had struggled to fix but couldn't. He needed Model Pm back, and while stealing it would be easy...his pride felt somewhat wounded. For the first time in years, he felt truly enraged. He would not simply steal Model Pm. He would kill the upstart young scientist and his family with a special unit of Mavericks.

The Chosen One had died. Upon regaining Pm, Xanatos learned of something else Randall had done for extra security. A second Cipher, one tied to the bloodline of the woman his mavericks had killed. While he couldn't have Pm used by another warrior, he could decript more of Pm's data and make new kinds of Mavericks from his data. Thus he brought back Sniper Joes to the ZX Era, updated with the latest technology to make them an elite group of killing machines.

Only two survivors came from that attack. The first was the five-year-old child of the couple, whom Xanatos did not feel was a threat at the time. The other, which he would learn of years later, was the scientist he wanted dead to begin with. Years later, about 8 years before the appearance of Mega Man ZX, the boy had somehow gotten into one of Xanatos's Joe factories. The very same factory which, at the time, held Model Pm. That boy, now calling himself "Proto Man Kai" like his mother before him, would go on to affect Xanatos's other plans, both intentionally and unintentionally, such as fighting back against Julias in the Orchestra Civil War.

The scientist however...had found the other biometals that Xanatos had created with Randall centuries ago. Almost 6 years prior to Albert's reveal, Xanatos sent another maverick force to deal with Terry Arbre Wright Phare once and for all and recover the biometals. While the scientist was finally dead, each of his new family members took one of the biometals and were scattered by the result of his attack.

Serpent had made Model W and this era's so called definition of "Mega Men" become known to the general public. Albert had revealed himself as the Mastermind of the Game of Destiny and failed, crashing most of the Model W's to the bottom of the ocean. He could now move more freely with his own plans.

"The original Game Master may be dead...But that does not mean another can't step in and take his place."
